Lonette Bolden-Smith, MA, BSN, RN, CMC, CDP, CADDCT
I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, followed by a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in 2006. My career path quickly led me to working with older adults, where I served as Social Services Director in a local nursing home for more than a decade. During this time, I discovered my true passion for supporting older adults and their families. Although my initial plan was to remain in the nursing home setting only until completing graduate studies, my deep commitment to the work made it difficult to leave.
Recognizing my capacity to do more, I pursued nursing and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Herzing University in 2018. I began bedside nursing on a Cardiac Progressive Care Unit before transitioning into discharge planning. Even with these new skills, I continued to be drawn to older adults and the importance of guiding them and their families through complex care decisions.
Today, I am proud to bring together my diverse experiences in nursing homes, hospitals, and community settings as a professional Care Manager and member of the Aging Life Care Association® (ALCA). I currently serve on the Board of Directors for the Florida Chapter of ALCA and volunteer with the Orlando Chapter of AARP. I have extensive knowledge of resources in the Central Florida area and specialize in helping families navigate the Aging Life Care™ process. Advocacy, quality of life, and compassionate support remain at the heart of my work.
In addition to care management, I am dedicated to education. As a Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT) through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners (NCCDP), I strive to empower others with the knowledge and skills needed to better serve our aging population. Beginning in January 2026, I will be the walk leader for the Walk with a Doc initiative in Ocoee, Florida, held on the first Friday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at 1320 S. Bluford Avenue. I believe education, advocacy, and community engagement are essential to creating meaningful change, and I am honored to contribute to that mission.

I began my career in a small, 60-bed nursing facility. Early on in my career I quickly recognized the diverse needs of older adults, and I gained invaluable insights into the importance of compassionate care, often finding that this focus was not always prioritized in the healthcare field. I realized the benefits of a person-centered approach early on in my journey.
Throughout my tenure in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care centers I have realized my passion lies in providing quality care and building meaningful relationships with those I am able to work with and strive to guide them through the challenging obstacles that many in this community face.
With experience in both direct care and in healthcare management roles, I have consistently advocated for a different approach to the care of the under-served older adult population and sought professional connections that held the same ideas as my own. I believe that personalized attention and problem-solving are key to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and their families.
I am thrilled to dedicate my efforts to helping individuals and families identify solutions that improve well-being through care and personal interactions.
A native of Orlando, Florida, I earned my Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Central Florida in 2004 and proudly hold the American Speech and Language Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence and professional license as a Speech and Language Pathologist and I will continue to be an enthusiastic advocate for the older adult community. It has been my pleasure to work with older adults throughout my entire career and I have the same passion today as I had over 20 years ago in that 60-bed nursing facility.
